Humble Police say that burglaries traditionally spike during the holidays, especially at crowded places such as Deerbrook Mall.
On Black Friday, Nov. 27, several shoppers found this to be true.
A 26-year-old female returned to the Deerbrook Mall parking lot before noon to head home from shopping. When she located her 2001 Ford Expedition, she noticed that the passenger door had been damaged. The window was broken, and the lock was picked so that the door could be opened, and the victim's CD player had been stolen. Police estimate her losses at $800.
A New Mexico man in town for the holidays was the victim of a vehicle burglary later that day. The 70-year-old man had parked his vehicle at Deerbrook Mall to do some afternoon shopping. When he returned to the car at around 4:30 p.m., he found that his front passenger door had been picked and the car stereo on his 2004 Ford F250 pickup had been removed. Police estimate the victims losses around $170 for the stereo and $250 for a new door lock.
There are no suspects in either case to date.
