    3 college board positions up for election

    Three seats are up for election on the Lone Star College System Board of Trustees, and candidates may file for those positions until March 8.

    The election for positions 5, 6 and 7 on the nine member board will be held on May 8. Those positions currently are held by David Voyt, Robert Wolfe and Richard Campbell, respectively.

    The board is responsible for appointing the chancellor, setting board and system policies, contracting system assets, approving business activities, establishing tax rates, setting budgets and monitoring performance.

    The Lone Star College System includes five campuses and six satellite center and a university center and serves 62,000 students.

    Each position serves a six-year term. To be eligible, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, a register voter, 18 years old, live in Texas for a year and in the Lone Star system area for six months and not be a convicted felon or mentally incapacitated.
