Garden Club scholarship deadline April 1

Graduates of any Humble Independent School District high school or New Caney High School who are studying horticulture or another environmental field might want to be putting together scholarship applications. The Kingwood Garden Club will award $4,500 in scholarships to college juniors and seniors this year, and the deadline to apply is April 1.

The club has been awarding scholarships for at least 30 years, said Nancy Giffhorn.

“There have been people who have studied forestry, water conservation, landscaping -- anything that has an impact on the environment,” Giffhorn said. “It’s our intention to help raise awareness of the importance of nature.”

The scholarship application can be downloaded from the KGC Web site, www.kingwoodgardenclub.org.
