If you're looking to take a break from Mexican food swimming in cheese and calories, the chicken soup at Los Cucos in Kingwood is an excellent choice.
For a little less than $9, you get a concoction of white-meat chicken, carrots, potatoes and celery, all in a finely seasoned broth. The soup, served in an oversized bowl, comes with a side plate of pico de gallo, sliced avocado and Mexican rice.
If you are the proud owner of a respectable waistline, or hopelessly unable to resist the temptation, you can dip into the chips and salsa -- red and green -- before your soup arrives.
Los Cucos is located at 23730 U.S. 59. In Humble, the eatery is at 9441 FM 1960 West.
Any other Los Cucos chicken soup fans out there? Can you recommend another establishment that serves up worth-the-trip soup in our area? Please keep it to $10 or less.
