    Kingwood Park's boys soccer team advanced to the Class 4A final four on Saturday, with 4-2 win over Waco University High. Kingwood Park will take on Dripping Springs next weekend in the state semifinals. Meanwhile, Kingwood High's girls team lost a shootout against Katy Seven Lakes on Saturday to end their season a win shy of the state final four.

    A new sports group in East Montgomery County continues to look at building a minor league baseball stadium in the area, in Porter just off the Eastex Freeway feeder near the proposed Grand Parkway.

    Kingwood Park High boys swim team collected its second Class 4A championship in a row on Saturday in Austin. The Panthers won all four relay races and four individual titles. Brooks Powell won the 50-yard freestyle, Mark Dix won the 100-yard butterfly, Joseph Stanton won the 100-yard freestyle, and Garrett Stewart won the 100-yard backstroke.

    Kingwood's girls swim team won the state swim title on Saturday in Austin. Jamie Friderichs, shown above at the regional meet, joined her teammates Leah Pfitzer, Michelle Gean and Madeline Hazle to win the 200-yard freestyle relay title.

    Kingwood's Matthew Barber, shown in regional meet above, won the state title in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle, helping lead the Mustangs' boys team to a third-place team finish at the state meet in Austin Saturday. The Woodlands won the boys team state title.
