The New Caney Independent School District, which serves school-age children living in Oakhurst at Kingwood, is also one of the largest districts in the state to earn a “Recognized” rating by the Texas Education Agency.

From elementary through high school, students in Oakhurst at Kingwood are offered a challenging and motivating academic experience  in a district that is known for strong community support and outstanding achievements.

All high school graduates in the district, which is also located in the East Montgomery County Improvement District, are encouraged to continue their education after high school and are guaranteed a generous financial start to do so.

The EMCID, in partnership with Lone Star College District, will make $1,000 available to each graduate to be used for tuition and fees within the Lone Star College System at Kingwood College, Tomball College, Montgomery College or Cy-Fair College.

The scholarship must be used within 24 months of high school graduation. Additionally, this $1,000 can also be utilized at numerous four-year schools for advanced educational needs. The application and details on the scholarship are available on the EMCID’s website at www.emctx.com.
