2 killed in Houston accidents
Two people died in separate traffic wrecks this morning in the Houston area.
An 18-wheeler and a car were involved in the most recent crash, which occurred on the 610 North Loop at U.S. 59 about 8:20 a.m., police said.
Police said the collision happened on the eastbound Loop at the ramp to the northbound Eastex Freeway.
All eastbound 610 lanes were temporarily closed while police and emergency crews worked to clear the site.
No other information was immediately available.
The other crash happened at 1220 Stonehollow Drive near Greenberry in the Kingwood area about 6:30 a.m., police said.
Police said it appeared that the driver of a bread-delivery van was traveling southbound on Greenberry when he apparently had a heart attack. The van coasted through the intersection at Stonehollow and hit a tree.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
