Hazardous materials and electronics recycling event set for Kingwood
The City of Houston will provide a once per year BOPA (batteries, oil, latex paint, antifreeze) and electronics recycling event on Sunday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kingwood Park and Ride lot.
New to the event this year, Keep Kingwood Green has arranged for displays by recycling providers such as Waste Management, Republic Waste, Best Trash, Living Earth Technologies, 1-800-Got-Junk, Greenstar and Edible Earth Resources. A vendor will also be there to recycle plastic foam blocks and scrap metal. In addition, the normal weekend recycling of plastic, paper, cans, cardboard and glass will be available on the northwest corner of the lot.
Another new feature this year is that the city will give reusable paint to residents beginning at noon. Enter the middle gate on Rustic Woods for the free paint or to view the displays.
Last year, Kingwood residents recycled over 28 tons of materials at this four-hour event.
Kingwood Park and Ride is located at 3210 Lake Houston Parkway.
