Booster club to raise funds for Lake Houston Special Olympics effort
A gala and silent auction supporting the Lake Houston Hurricanes will be held on April 2 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Kingwood First Baptist Church's fellowship hall, 3500 Woodland Hills Drive.
The cost of the event is $30 for parents or friends of the athletes, and $15 for the athletes themselves as well as for students. Call Kathie Gentry at 281-361-5815 to make reservations by Friday, March 25, for this event, or email kathiegentry@cebridge.net.
The Special Olympics is an organization that holds regular athletic competitions for people with intellectual challenges. It was founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver in 1968.
The Lake Houston Hurricanes are athletes, starting at the age of 8, with disabilities competing through Special Olympics Texas.
