Kingwood residents sue insurer over hail damage
Kingwood residents are suing after, they say, insurers failed to adequately compensate them for the damage their home sustained during a hail and wind event.
Michael and Jennifer Wright filed a lawsuit on June 15 in Harris County District Court against State Farm Lloyds and John Hogan, alleging violations of the Texas Insurance Code, fraud and breach of contract.
The Wrights say that on March 27, 2009, their home, located at Three Pines Drive in Kingwood, sustained roof damage, water damage and wind damage, as a result of a hail and wind storm. According to the brief, the defendants insure the Wrights’ property, but breached their insurance agreement by failing to cover the cost of repairs as required under the contract.
The Wrights are seeking damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Houston attorney Daniel Barton.
