East End company accuses Katy, Kingwood plumbers of shoddy work
An East End company is suing after, it says, the company it hired to update its warehouse's water pipes in turn hired plumbers who flooded the property.
East End's Port City, Inc. filed a lawsuit on Aug. 22 in the Harris County District Court against Mammoth Plumbing, with an office in Kingwood; C&Z Plumbing, of Katy; and Edmundo Caravello, citing breach of contract, violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, negligence and gross negligence.
Port City says that on March 1, 2010, it hired Drebaur Homes to be the general contractor on its warehouse renovation project, and that Drebaur Homes hired the defendants to update the property's water pipes.
Port City claims that after the defendants work caused the property to flood, ruining office equipment, furniture, computers and files, Caravello promised to pay for the damage, admitting the three different water pipes failed because of over-tightened pipe fittings.
Shortly after Caravello agreed to pay for the repairs, he used an expletive to express his sudden change of mind, according to the brief.
Port City is seeking multiple damages, attorney's fees and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney William Cronin.
