'Tex-Mex Holiday Festival' to benefit military family

Will’s Kids, a Kingwood-based nonprofit organization, is coordinating the Tex-Mex Holiday Festival from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 to raise funds for the children of a local single mother in the military who will not be able to return home for the holidays.

Lifelong Kingwood resident PFC Tasha Gridley is currently stationed in New York and awaiting likely deployment to Afghanistan.

Gridley’s two daughters are living with their grandmother in Kingwood while she serves in the military.

The Tex-Mex Holiday Festival will feature $5 meals provided by Texas Roadhouse and Los Cucos restaurants in the parking lot they share at Northpark Plaza in Kingwood.

Local gospel musician Jessica King will perform, as will Divisi Strings.

Free calling cards will be distributed to the first 500 military families who claim them. A drop box will be onsite for unwanted cell phones as part of the Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign.

Christmas gifts will be offered by local artists and craftsmen, and Santa Claus will make an appearance for photos.

Vendor applications are currently being accepted and cash donations are welcome.

Information and forms are available at www.WillsKids.org.
