Local Republican women's group receives 'Award of Excellence'
Halene Crossman represented the Kingwood Area Republican Women at the 56th Biennial Convention of Texas Federation of Republican Women in November.
Crossman, a former president and board member of Kingwood Area Republican Women, accepted the John Goodwin Tower Award of Excellence, presented by Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. This award was given in recognition of the club's political and community activism and is based on a two-year plan.
The club also received the Caring For America Award for its continuing contributions to troops and the community.
The convention featured 1,000 club delegates from across the state that listened to speakers, elected new officers, revised bylaws and mingled with elected officials and candidates.
Opening festivities included a special reception with Donald Rumsfeld, former Secretary of Defense; workshops by Kevin Jackson, Mark Olsen and Marc Levin; and keynote speakers that included John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison.
