Lake Houston Chamber of Commerce announces launch of Priority 1 Campaign

The Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce will host its Third Tuesday Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Kingwood Country Club.

Chamber president Charlie Dromgoole will announce the launch of the Priority 1 Campaign and give an update on the chamber's economic development program.

Cost for the event is $25 for members with reservations and $30 for non-members or members without reservations.

Insperity will sponsor the luncheon, where Dromgoole will discuss the next phase of the campaign dedicated to raising funds for public and private entities.

Dromgoole believes the Lake Houston area needs a staff to compete with other cities for primary jobs."For us to be able to compete effectively, we need to have fulltime economic development staff, operating expenses for that staff and additional funds for marketing the area, but we have to raise our funding from businesses and entities in our area," Dromgoole said in a press release.

The chamber's top priority for the last two years has been economic development. In 2011, the chamber conducted research, consulted with a number of economic development experts and developed a strategic economic development plan for the Lake Houston area.

The chamber recently unveiled a new economic development website at www.lakehoustonedp.org.

Kingwood Country Club is at 1700 Lake Kingwood Trails.
