Lone Star College System Office of Technology Services recognized with national, state IT awards

Lone Star College System's Office of Technology Services was recently recognized with four national and state IT awards by various organizations.

According to a press release, the office was honored with the 2012 Computer Laureate award from ComputerWorld magazine, the IT Infrastructure Award by Campus Technology magazine, the Best in Texas award by eRepublic's Center for Digital Government and was named the 2012 Digital Community Colleges Survey winner by eRepublic.

The Computer Laureate award, part of Computerworld's Honors Program, recognizes individuals, organizations and institutions around the world whose applications of information technology help promote positive social, economic and education change.

Campus Technology magazine ranked the college system among the top 10 institutions in the nation for its technology innovation and honored the college with the IT Infrastructure Award for its private cloud.

The Digital Community Colleges Survey recognizes college's that have increased the number of computers and kiosks, automated labor-intensive processes and student online services, and improved student portals.

The Best in Texas award recognizes public leaders and agencies for their dedication and contribution to IT in the state based on a variety of factors such as collaboration among agencies, innovative use of technology, economic benefits and bettering services and business processes.

"I am proud to lead the office of technology for the Lone Star College System," Link Alander, vice chancellor of technology services, said in the release. "We strive to improve information security by raising user awareness, maturing security-related business processes and setting up a continuous improvement process for information security."
