FAST Camp Eagles win third youth state title
The F.A.S.T. Camp Junior Eagles bested the Alamo City Lobos to win their third Texas Youth Football Association Division I State Championship on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
The win capped off an undefeated season for the Junior Eagles, shutting Alamo City down in a 19-0 contest at Manor Stadium in Manor to finish 12-0 on the year, according to a Texas Youth Football Association press release. The squad is made up of 10 and 11-year-olds from Atascocita, Cy-Fair, C.E. King, Houston, Huffman, Humble, Kingwood and Northshore.
On their way to the championship, the Junior Eagles took down a number of competitive Texas squads, including teams from the Austin, Port Arthur and San Antonio areas.
The Eagles had two teams make their way into the state championship game this season, the second time in the program's four-year existence. While the Junior Eagles took top prize, the Senior Eagles fell to the San Antonio Outlaws in a 52-20 contest. The 12 and 13-year-old group finished the season with a 10-1 record overall.
The F.A.S.T. Camp Junior Eagles championship team is led by coaches Gerard Lewis, Keith Wheeler, Dennis Johnson and Kirk Peterson. The team consists of players Gus Mendel, Reginald Spivey, Deonte Bradford, Reginald Brown, Masyn Winn, Noel Wright, Brycen Thomas, Quinten Robertson, Tristan Rea, Jacob Purkhiser, Danny Fleming, Tyler Metoyer, Kamari Cloud, Nicholas Luckett, Alex Fleming, Dominic Crespo, Don Green, Tremel Christian, Cedric Willams III, Richard Hall and Robert Richardson.
The Texas Youth Football Association offers programs in the San Antonio, Houston, Austin and Rio Grande Valley areas.
